The proverbs are Godly wisdom for us.
The proverbs are Godly wisdom for us. You receive wisdom when you call out for insight, cry aloud for understanding and search for it (Pr. 2:3-6). There are benefits, that come from having the wisdom that comes from God: life, prosperity and honor. Refusing to live without that wisdom, also have its consequences. Punishment because you would be against God’s will, and death as a result of those sins.Salomon asked God for a discerning heart and God granted him wisdom like no one else. The wisdom that comes from God is the ability to discern what is right in the eyes of God. The wisdom of God is different than the wisdom of the world. The wisdom of God comes as a result of asking and having a relationship with Him. The wisdom of God comes to dwell in the heart of a person and express itself in their actions. The heart is the control center of the soul. In there you will choose to obey or disobey God’s word.In proverbs' 6:16-19 it mentions six things the Lord hates; haughty eyes, lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, false witness, a man who stirs up dissension. It teaches us how we sin through our mind (heart), eyes (attitudes), mouth (words) and actions (behavior). All this reflects the condition of the heart and who is the master of that heart. When God is the Master of your heart, you act in concordance with His word and the fruits of your heart express itself in actions that pleases God. When evil is the master of your heart, you express the same in your attitudes and actions. Even if you pretend to be good, in some point the true self will come out and reveal you. Proverbs also teach us the power of forgiveness.Proverbs 4:4 says: “keep my commands and you will live.” What commands? All of them are enclosed in what our Lord Jesus said: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. And love your neighbor as yourself.” When you love the Lord, you keep His commandments and you fear the Lord. You fear Him because you know the consequence of being out of His Word. You fear, because you know the benefit of being under His wings and what is to have Him as a shield and as a refuge. Through His righteousness you are safe. The Book of Proverbs is more than humanistic proverbs. It takes us to the inner side of a heart and it shows us the consequences of our actions. Proverbs teach us the difference between the immoral woman, the folly woman and the one of noble character. Proverbs are a guide for how to live wisely, but even more. Proverbs are the calling to acknowledge who is in control. “Who has gone up to heaven and come down?… what is his name, and the name of his son?” (Pv. 30:4).“No one has ever gone to heaven except the one who came from heaven the Son of Man.” John 3:13 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1
