God Reveals Himself as " I AM "

God Reveals Himself as "I Am"

THE NAMES OF GOD are the titles or designations revealed about God throughout the Bible. In the ancient world, knowing another’s name was a special privilege that offered access to that person’s thought and life. God favors His people by revealing Himself in the many names that offer special insight into His love and righteousness.
Jehovah/Yahweh. One of the most important names for God in the Old Testament is Yahweh, or Jehovah, from the verb “to be,” meaning simply but profoundly, “He Is.” His full name is found only in Ex. 3:14 and means “I am who I am” or “I will be who I will be.” The four-letter Hebrew word YHWH was the name by which God revealed Himself to Moses at the burning bush (Ex. 3:14). This bush was a vivid symbol of the inexhaustible power of God who burns like a fire with love and righteousness, yet remains the same and never diminishes. Some English translations of the Bible vocalize the word as Jehovah, while others use Yahweh.

(Gen 15:1 KJV)
After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying,
Fear not, Abram:
I AM THY SHIELD,
AND THY EXCEEDING GREAT REWARD.

(Gen 17:1 KJV)
And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him,
I AM THE ALMIGHTY GOD;
walk before me, and be thou perfect.

(Gen 26:24 KJV)
And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said,
I AM THE GOD OF ABRAHAM THY FATHER:
fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee,
and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake.

(Gen 28:15 KJV)
And, behold, I AM WITH THEE,
and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest,
and will bring thee again into this land;
for I will not leave thee,
until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

(Gen 35:11 KJV)
And God said unto him,
I AM GOD ALMIGHTY:
be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee,
and kings shall come out of thy loins;

(Gen 46:3 KJV)
And he said, I AM GOD, I AM THE GOD OF THY FATHER:
fear not to go down into Egypt;
for I will there make of thee a great nation:

(Exo 3:6-7 KJV)
Moreover he said,
I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
{7} And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt,
and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters;
for I KNOW THEIR SORROWS;

(Exo 3:14-15 KJV)
And God said unto Moses,
I AM THAT I AM:
and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
{15} And God said moreover unto Moses,
Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel,
The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob,
hath sent me unto you:
THIS IS MY NAME FOREVER
AND THIS IS MY MEMORIAL TO ALL GENERATIONS

(Exo 6:2 KJV)
And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him,
I AM THE LORD:

(Exo 6:6-8 KJV)
Wherefore say unto the children of Israel,
I AM THE LORD,
and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians,
and I will rid you out of their bondage,
and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
{7} And I will take you to me for a people,
AND I WILL BE TO YOU A GOD :
AND YE SHALL KNOW THAT I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD,
which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
{8} And I will bring you in unto the land,
concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob;
and I will give it you for an heritage:
I AM THE LORD.

(Exo 6:29 KJV)
That the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
I AM THE LORD;
speak thou unto Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say unto thee.

(Exo 7:5 KJV)
And the Egyptians shall know that I AM THE LORD,
when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt,
and bring out the children of Israel from among them.

(Exo 7:17 KJV)
Thus saith the LORD, In this thou shalt know that I AM THE LORD:
behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river,
and they shall be turned to blood.

(Exo 8:22 KJV)
And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell,
that no swarms of flies shall be there;
to the end thou mayest know that
I AM THE LORD IN THE MIDST OF THE EARTH.

(Exo 10:2 KJV)
And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son,
what things I have wrought in Egypt,
and my signs which I have done among them;
that ye may know how that I AM THE LORD.

(Exo 12:12 KJV)
For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night,
and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast;
and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment:
I AM THE LORD.

(Exo 14:18 KJV)
And the Egyptians shall know that I AM THE LORD.
when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh,
upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

(Exo 15:26 KJV)
And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God,
and wilt do that which is right in his sight,
and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes,
I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians:
for I AM THE LORD THAT HEALETH THEE.

(Exo 20:2 KJV)
I AM THE LORD THY GOD,
which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

(Exo 22:26-27 KJV)
If thou at all take thy neighbour's raiment to pledge,
thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:
{27} For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep?
and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear;
for I AM GRACIOUS.

(Exo 29:45-46 KJV)
And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God.
{46} And they shall know that I am the LORD their God,
that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt,
THAT I MAY DWELL AMONG THEM:
I AM THE LORD THEIR GOD.

My New Years wish for you

Family,as we walk into 2008, remembering what is behind, embracing what is right now, we walk into this New Year maybe a little wary , yet, filled with new hope and anticipation for what lies ahead. Let it begin and end with God. Let's really make Him the center of our lives, It will be sweeter if we do, and as things and people are removed from our lives, know that some changes will be painful, trust God, for in this Year of New Beginnings, we will need a Real Personal relationship with The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, so this is my wish for each of us. A closer walk with Thee.
From my house to yours, A Blessed and Spirit-filled Happy New Years.
Today's Read: Acts c2, 2Timothy c2 and Psalms c118

Wednesday, December 26, 2007

One to think about, especially at this time of the year.
You stay up for 16 hours He stays up for days on end. You take a warm shower to help you wake up. He goes days or weeks without running water. You complain of a 'headache', and call in sick. He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward. You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends. He still fights for your right to wear that shirt. You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket. He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags. You talk trash about your 'buddies' that aren't with you. He knows he may not see some of his buddi es again. You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls. He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists. You complain about how hot it is. He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow. You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong. He doesn't get to eat today. Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes. He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean. You go to the mall and get your hair redone. He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today. You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over. He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months. You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight. He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home. You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday. He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume. You roll your eyes as a baby cries. He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet. You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything. He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting. You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him. He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded. You see only what the media wants you to see. He sees the broken bodies lying around him. You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't. He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger. You stay at home and watch TV. He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat. You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable. He tries to sleep but gets woken by mortars and helicopters all night long. If you support your troops, send this to 7 people. If you don't support your troops well, then don't send this out. You won't die in 7 days, your love life won't be affected, and you won't have the worst day ever. You don't have to email this. It's not like you know the men and women that are dying to preserve your rights. In light of every thing going on in our lives this makes it seem pretty minimal. I had to share this with all my friends.

Who Will You Blame Today?

Jesus Christ-The Real focus of Christmas

Jesus Christ-The Real Focus of Christmas
Mat 1:23 (KJV)
Behold, a virgin shall be with child,
and shall bring forth a son,
and they shall call his name Emmanuel,
which being interpreted is,
God with us.

Dear Friends in Christ,
It's not the presents, it's not the shopping, it's not the parties and the drinking, it's not the reindeer and the Santas and elves and sleighs; Christmas is the celebration of the Incarnation of Christ, the Second Person of the Trinity, taking on human flesh so that He could sacrifice Himself for our sins, and thereby appease the wrath of God which could have sent us all to Hell.

This year, as no other year in my memory, Christmas and everything to do with it is under attack. There are school boards who are outlawing the singing of Christmas carols or playing any kind of instrumental music, even Handel's Messiah, on school property, (while they gleefully celebrate Qansa and Ramadan in the name of "Diversity"). Somehow, "we" don't want to "offend" these culturally diverse peoples and ethnic groups, while it is perfectly alright to offend Christians by denying our right to celebrate the most important Holy Day in our religion. Haven't we just had enough of this hypocrisy and repression?

Isn't it time we stood up and said,

"I don't care what the consequences are, Jesus Christ is Lord, and I am not afraid to say so!!!"

Pray that God would send a revival and a turning-back-to-God in our country before it's too late. I think God is sending us a wake up call by all the things that are happening around us. Have we become so lethargic and complacent that we are willing to let Christ be taken incrementally and systematically out of our society? Have we become the Church of Laodicea already? about which Jesus had this to say:

Rev 3:15-17 (KJV)
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot:
I would {rather} thou {would be} cold or hot.
{16} So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot,
I will spue thee out of my mouth.
{17} Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods,
and have need of nothing;
and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable,
and poor, and blind, and naked:

Or from way back in the Old Testament:

Deu 8:10-14a (KJV)
When thou hast eaten and art full,
then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God
for the good land which he hath given thee.
{11} Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God,
in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes,
which I command thee this day:
{12} Lest when thou hast eaten and art full,
and hast built goodly{Heb=beautiful} houses, and dwelt therein;
{13} And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply,
and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied,
and all that thou hast is multiplied;
{14} Then thine heart be lifted up{Heb=with pride},
and thou forget the LORD thy God,

So let us remind ourselves of what Christmas is really all about: it's about Jesus, and how He miraculously took on flesh, came to earth and walked among us, so that He could die as an atonement for our sins. Here are a few verses to help remind us of these truths...

1 John 4:9-10 (KJV)
In this was manifested the love of God toward us,
because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world,
that we might live through him.
{10} Herein is love,
not that we loved God, but that he loved us,
and sent his Son to be the propitiation{Grk=covering} for our sins.

Isa 9:6 (KJV)
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:
and the government shall be upon his shoulder:
and his name shall be called
Wonderful, Counsellor,
The mighty God, The everlasting Father,
The Prince of Peace.

Job 15:14-16 (KJV)
What is man, that he should be clean?
and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
{15} Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints{Heb=religious leaders};
yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
{16} How much more abominable and filthy is man,
which drinketh iniquity like water?

Isa 64:6-7 (KJV)
But we are all as an unclean thing,
and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;
and we all do fade as a leaf;
and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
{7} And there is none that calleth upon thy name,
that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee:
for thou hast hid thy face from us,
and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.

Job 14:4 (KJV)
Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean?
not one.{ie. no one}

Luke 1:26-35 (KJV)
And in the sixth month
the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
{27} To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph,
of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
{28} And the angel came in unto her, and said,
Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee:
blessed art thou among women.

{29} And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying,
and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

{30} And the angel said unto her,
Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
{31} And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb,
and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
{32} He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest:
and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
{33} And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever;
and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

{34} Then said Mary unto the angel,
How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

{35} And the angel answered and said unto her,
The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee,
and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee:
therefore also that Holy Thing which shall be born of thee shall be called
The Son of God.

Mat 1:20-23 (KJV)
But while he{Joseph} thought on these things,
behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying,
Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife:
for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
{21} And she shall bring forth a son,
and thou shalt call his name JESUS:
for he shall save his people from their sins.

{22} Now all this was done,
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet,
saying, {23} Behold, a virgin shall be with child,
and shall bring forth a son,
and they shall call his name Emmanuel,
which being interpreted is,
God with us.

John 1:14 (KJV)
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,
(and we beheld his glory,
the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)
full of grace and truth.

John 3:16-21 (KJV)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
{17} For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.
{18} He that believeth on him is not condemned:
but he that believeth not is condemned already,
because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
{19} And this is the condemnation,
that light is come into the world,
and men loved darkness rather than light,
because their deeds were evil.
{20} For every one that doeth evil hateth the light,
neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
{21} But he that doeth truth cometh to the light,
that his deeds may be made manifest,
that they are wrought in God.

Heb 1:1-13 (KJV)
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners
spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
{2} Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son,
whom he hath appointed heir of all things,
by whom also he made the worlds;
{3} Who being the brightness of his glory,
and the express image of his person,
and upholding all things by the word of his power,
when he had by himself purged our sins,
sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
{4} Being made so much better than the angels,
as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

{5} For unto which of the angels said he at any time,
Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee?
And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
{6} And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world,
he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.
{7} And of the angels he saith,
Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

{8} But unto the Son he saith,
Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever:
a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
{9} Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity;
therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee
with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
{10} And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth;
and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
{11} They shall perish; but thou remainest;
and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
{12} And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up,
and they shall be changed:
but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
{13} But to which of the angels said he at any time,
Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?

Heb 10:5-7 (KJV)
Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith,
Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not,
but a body hast thou prepared me:
{6} In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
{7} Then said I, Lo, I come
(in the volume of the book it is written of me,)
to do thy will, O God.

God Bless You and Your Family.

Merry Christmas and A Blessed New Years from My House to Yours

God Invites Us to Come to Jesus and Be Saved

God Invites Us to Come to Jesus and Be Saved

(Mat 11:28-30 KJV)
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
{29} Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me;
for I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
{30} For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

(Luke 18:16-17 KJV)
But Jesus called them unto him, and said,
Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not:
for of such is the kingdom of God.
{17} Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child
shall in no wise enter therein.

(John 7:37-39 KJV)
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying,
If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
{38} He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said,
out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
{39} (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive:
for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

(Psa 73:28 KJV)
But it is good for me to draw near to God:
I have put my trust in the Lord GOD,
that I may declare all thy works.

(Psa 107:19-21 KJV)
Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble,
and he saveth them out of their distresses.
{20} He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
{21} Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness,
and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

(Isa 45:20-24 KJV)
Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations:
they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image,
and pray unto a god that cannot save.
{21} Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together:
who hath declared this from ancient time?
who hath told it from that time?
have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me;
a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
{22} Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth:
for I am God, and there is none else.
{23} I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return,
That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
{24} Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength:
even to him shall men come;
and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.

(Heb 10:22-25 KJV)
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience,
and our bodies washed with pure water.
{23} Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering;
(for he is faithful that promised;)
{24} And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
{25} Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

(Isa 1:18-20 KJV)
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD:
though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
{19} If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
{20} But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword:
for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

(Isa 43:25-26 KJV)
I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake,
and will not remember thy sins.
{26} Put me in remembrance: let us plead together:
declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

(Isa 44:22 KJV)
I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins:
return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

(Isa 45:22-25 KJV)
Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth:
for I am God, and there is none else.
{23} I have sworn by myself,
the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return,
That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
{24} Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength:
even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.
{25} In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

(Isa 55:1-3 KJV)
Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters,
and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat;
yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
{2} Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread?
and your labour for that which satisfieth not?
hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
{3} Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live;
and I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
even the sure mercies of David.

(John 6:37-40 KJV)
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me;
and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
{38} For I came down from heaven,
not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
{39} And this is the Father's will which hath sent me,
that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing,
but should raise it up again at the last day.
{40} And this is the will of him that sent me,
that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life:
and I will raise him up at the last day.

(Rev 22:16-17 KJV)
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches.
I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
{17} And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come.
And let him that is athirst come.
And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

(Rev 3:19-21 KJV)
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten:
be zealous therefore, and repent.
{20} Behold, I stand at the door, and knock;
if any man hear my voice, and open the door,
I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
{21} To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne,
even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

zip code then you can find a food bank in your area and bring some canned
goods. Things high in protein are better, like peanut butter, tuna and so
on. Even if it's just one that's enough to make sure that somebody has
something to eat.

Handel's Messiah

Mat 1:23 (KJV)
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son,
and they shall call his name Emmanuel,
which being interpreted is,
God with us.
~~~~~~~~
Dear Friends in Christ,
A while back, I came across a cd copy of Handel's Messiah in a used book store, and snapped it up. What a treasure that nobody wanted! But I had never really listened to the whole work before. The only thing I remembered from it was, of course, the "Hallelujia Chorus." But as I listened i found that it was so uplifting. I listened to it over and over again. I was incredibly blessed by it. And to my amazement, I started recognizing that the lyrics were actually fragments of Bible verses. So I set about to find the verses and their references, and kept a file for my own studies.
As it turns out, The Messiah is either a Bible study with a beautiful concert attached, or a wonderful piece of classical music with a free
Bible study included at no extra charge. I can't decide which. I do remember reading that when Handel was alive, the Messiah was one of the most often performed pieces of music in concert, and that Handel gave away most of the profits obtained from his concerts to support orphaned children.
So, here is a copy of the lyrics and Bible Verses, and a little bit of history regarding its writing. You will find that Handel's Messiah is a beautiful study of the prophesies and other verses about our Lord Jesus Christ. If you get a chance to sing it or just hear it at this Christnas season, you will be blessed I assure you.
God Bless you and your families.
George Frederic Handel (1685-1759)
Performances of Handel's oratorio, Messiah , have become a Christmas tradition, and for many the "Hallelujah Chorus" expresses the joy which the coming of Christ, the King of Kings, brings. Handel wrote his masterful music in an amazing 24 days and was passionately moved by the Scriptures describing Jesus' incarnation, crucifixion, resurrection, and coronation as King of Kings. He worked on his masterpiece almost nonstop, with little sleep or food. One day his servant opened the door to find Handel at his work, with tears streaming down his face. Handel looked up and cried out, "I did think I did see all Heaven before me, and the great God Himself."
When Messiah was performed before King George II of England in 1743, the king rose when the triumphal notes of the "Hallelujah Chorus" were first played. Of course, everyone had to rise when the king did, and the tradition of rising for the "Hallelujah Chorus" began - a tradition that continues to this day.
Blessed are the Pure in Heart
BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART
(Mat 5:8 KJV)
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
(Job 19:25-27 KJV)
For I know that my redeemer liveth,
and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
{26} And though after my skin worms destroy this body,
yet in my flesh shall I see God:
{27} Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another;
though my reins{Heb=innermost body parts} be consumed within me.
PURITY
1. Freedom from foreign admixture or corrupting matter;
2. Cleanness; freedom from foulness or dirt;
3. Freedom from guilt or the defilement of sin; innocence; as purity of heart or life.
4. Chastity; freedom from contamination by illicit sexual connection.
(Mat 23:27-28 KJV)
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!
for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward,
but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
{28} Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men,
but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
(1 Chr 29:17a KJV)
I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness.
(Psa 15:2-5 KJV)
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
{3} He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour,
nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
{4} In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD.
He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.
{5} He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent.
He that doeth these things shall never be moved.
(Psa 18:26-28 KJV)
With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt show thyself froward.
{27} For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.
{28} For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.
(Psa 24:4-6 KJV)
He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart;
who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully
. {5} He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
{6} This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.
(Psa 51:5-13 KJV)
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.
{6} Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts:
and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
{7} Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
{8} Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
{9} Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
{10} Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
{11} Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
{12} Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
{13} Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
(Prov 22:11-12 KJV)
He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.
{12} The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge,
and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.
(Ezek 36:25-29 KJV)
Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean:
from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
{26} A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you:
and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
{27} And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes,
and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
{28} And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers;
and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.
{29} I will also save you from all your uncleannesses...
(2 Cor 7:1 KJV)
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved,
let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit,
perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
(Titus 1:15-16 KJV)
Unto the pure all things are pure:
but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure;
but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
{16} They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him,
being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
(Heb 9:14 KJV)
How much more shall the blood of Christ,
who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God,
purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
(Heb 10:22-25 KJV)
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
{23} Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
{24} And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
{25} Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
(James 3:17-18 KJV)
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated,
full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
{18} And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
(James 4:8-10 KJV)
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
{9} Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
{10} Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
(1 Pet 1:21-25 KJV)
Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory;
that your faith and hope might be in God.
{22} Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren,
see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
{23} Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible,
by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
{24} For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.
The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: {25} But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.
And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
FOR THEY SHALL SEE GOD
(2 Cor 6:16-18 KJV)
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?
for ye are the temple of the living God;
as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them;
and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
{17} Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord,
and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
{18} And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
(2 Cor 7:1 KJV) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved,
let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit,
perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
(Exo 29:45-46 KJV)
And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God.
{46} And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt,
that I may dwell among them: I am the LORD their God.
(1 Ki 8:27-30 KJV)
But will God indeed dwell on the earth?
behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee;
how much less this house that I have builded?
{28} Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication,
O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer,
which thy servant prayeth before thee to day:
{29} That thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day,
even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there:
that thou mayest hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall make toward this place.
{30} And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant,
and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place:
and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place:
and when thou hearest, forgive.
(Lev 26:11-13 KJV)
And I will set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you.
{12} And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.
{13} I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt,
that ye should not be their bondmen;
and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.
(Psa 68:18-20 KJV)
Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive:
thou hast received gifts for men;
yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.
{19} Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.
{20} He that is our God is the God of salvation;
and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues from death.
(Isa 57:15 KJV)
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy;
I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit,
to revive the spirit of the humble,
and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
(Ezek 37:26-28 KJV)
Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them:
and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.
{27} My tabernacle also shall be with them:
yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
{28} And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel,
when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.
(Rev 21:3-8 KJV)
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men,
and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people,
and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
{4} And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes;
and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain:
for the former things are passed away.
{5} And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.
And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
{6} And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
{7} He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
{8} But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers,
and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars,
shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:
which is the second death.
(1 Cor 13:9-12 KJV)
For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
{10} But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
{11} When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child:
but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
{12} For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
(Heb 12:14-15 KJV)
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
{15} Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God;
lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you,
and thereby many be defiled;
(1 John 3:2-3 KJV)
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be:
but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
{3} And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself,
even as he is pure.
(1 Cor 13:12 KJV)
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:
now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
(2 Cor 3:17-18 KJV)
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
{18} But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord,
are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
(2 Cor 5:6-11 KJV)
Therefore we are always confident,
knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
{7} (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
{8} We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body,
and to be present with the Lord.
{9} Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
{10} For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ;
that every one may receive the things done in his body,
according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
{11} Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men;
but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
A World without Pain" Part One... A few months ago... A news broadcast was explaining a disease which is very rare, that, allows the person "afflicted" to feel NO PAIN. The subject was a little boy who actually "feels" no pain....(I'm not a MD so please except my layman's explanation of this condition). Apparently his nervous system and spinal cords has become "disconnected" from the nerve endings that sends a signal to the brain.... "that something is wrong". This "feeling" ain't normal...the brain never receives the signal.... Wow. I thought as I popped a muscle relaxant into my mouth....WHY....well the Elder is getting Older..... I used my back the wrong way and my lower back muscles went into a "protective" mood...and tightened. My MD calls it "SPASMS". I CALL IT SHEER, EXCRUCIATING AND OHMYLORDKILLMENOW.... PAIN" (if you have ever mess with your back....you know what I'm talking about) Pain. One of the most necessary gifts that God has given man. What a well thought out purpose. Something that signals the brain, the body, the emotions and the "MEMORY" that something is wrong, was wrong, could be wrong and "should" be FIXED. Gods is awesome. Can you imagine a world where pain didn't exist. Where the "LESSONS" of what NOT to do can't be learned because the pain "sensors" ARE damaged or non-existent? This young man....the subject of the news broadcast....could break his arm and NOT KNOW...it was broken.... All sorts of issues could happen from that incident. Improper healing. Losing complete use of that limb.... A whole host of issues will arise. Oh my aching back.... I "learned" that I must take it easy. Slow down. Lift properly. Take breaks. Just "be easy". I was hurt. Jos 24:15 "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD" Reactions. Responses. Empire. Kingdom. Bad. Good. Death. Life. Weak. Strong. Let me I tell you..... I wanted to "hurt".... No MORE after God brought some things to my attention. My "Empire" REACTION.... was in-deed, in-thought, and in-practice.....detrimental.... to my "KINGdom" Purpose. My Destiny in God. My Divinely Appointed Hour. Let me tell you this..... I was hurting...bad from this "sting". I wanted to react, I was talkin to myself.... You know how you be doing when you alone and nobody can hear you....you saying stuff like..."What I'm gonna do and so on..." Then... Amidst my "ranting and raving" God softly spoke and said... "What About Me?" I softly RESPONDED.... "Lord What about you"? He spoke. God spoke. God spoke to me... He said... "What about all the times you have "hurt" me with your actions?" "What about the pain that you have caused ME thru your previous "empire inspired choices"? How about the times you "proclaim" your "I'm sorry God" and turned around and do it again. AND AGAIN. ???" "You have HURT ME...." God said.... He continued.... "When you choose the Empire over KINGdom... You cause me to work around your your faults so that I can get my plans established.... Again..." "I said HUH?" God was speaking....... "When you are out of my will. I have to re-work some of my plans. There are divine appointments, specific missions, formulated encounters, to have YOUR PATHS cross with another so that a blessing can be worked, a miracle can be wrought, a choice made to FOLLOW my SON....However when you fail in accepting a KINGdom choice... something important falls thru...a decision is LOST....a SOUL is LOST. "He continues...this is much larger than your feelings, your emotions and "your hurt"....it is about ME first.....God first. EVEN in your pain." He continues....(by this time I wanted God to stop talking.....but....) He brought up CALVARY....God took me there.... "The Pain did not stop me" He said..... I was done.... He continued..."The Pain You feel, can't even be compared to the pain I have endured to make it right for you." He stopped talking..... I was glad for that..... I said...WOW.... "I asked God to forgive me" He spoke again He said..... "For What?" I was DONE..... Ready. Set. Let YOUR "IT" GO, FOR GOOD. RELEASE YOUR "IT". Responses. Empire. Kingdom. Bad. Good. Death. Life. Weak. Strong. A few days ago, I went thru something that invoked within me a "reaction". NOT A RESPONSE. This "It" caused a stir within me. It "infected" and "affected" my thoughts, spirit and my EMOTIONS. This "it" caused a reaction in me that was "birthing" an "EMPIRE" result in "KINGDOM" Properties. (My Pastor has been preaching a series of sermons entitled "Kingdom vs. Empire". Kingdom being the KINGdom, the LORDship, THE POWER of Jesus living THRU you.... Empire being....any other way). When I "felt" this... "It". I wanted to react, without regard, to react and enquire, to react with an "what you say about my Momma" reaction. I put on the gloves and was "ready" to attack, without thought, fight without "true reason". The "I" in me... WANTED TO DEAL WITH THIS "IT".... Then I called one of my sisters. She said.... "Darren, your REACTIONS, could destroy some of the PROVIDENTIALLY ORDAINED plans of GOD...What you are dealing with is larger than YOU." Wow. KINGdom vs. Empire. What's more important? Being hurt and reacting..... (don't get me wrong...no one should be a "doormat") or being hurt....taking that pain to God and allowing his KINGship over me....to "handle" how I would respond. I was mad. Angry. Blinded by rage. My emotions were high. Eyes wet. Nose running. DID I SAY mad... Despondent. My feelings were..... Hurt. Remember this my brothers and sisters.... God has Plans. So does his enemy. God has a Way...so does his enemy. God wants you live for him. So does his enemy. Part two tomorrow will be interesting.... Because this really wasn't about me. It got so much deeper than "me" that I was blown away by the "MEssage" that God was causing "me" to See. Feel. Examine. Live. Experience. Did I say feel? And APPLY. Reactions. Responses. Empire. Kingdom. Bad. Good. Death. Life. Weak. Strong. "Choose ye this day....whom ye will......... Serve." Ready. Set. Stay tune for part two. Now Choose. YOU NEVER KNOW WHO MAY BE IN NEED The first sentence is pretty powerful! God determines who walks into your life....it's up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go." I need this back. If you'll do this for me, I'll do it for you.... Father, God bless all my friends in whatever it is that you know they may need this day! And may their life be full of your peace, prosperity and power as they seek to have a closer relationship with you. Amen. Now send it on to five other people, including the one who sent it to you. Within hours you caused a multitude of people to pray for other people. Then sit back and watch the power of God work in your life. P. S. Five is good, but more is better, who else do you know that needs prayer. Make it a Wonderful Day!!
